Happy February, Hive Pack families and fans!
I wanted to touch base and share our tentative plans for the upcoming "off-season" as the current winter season winds down through its final weeks. Below are the different opportunities we have on deck for our current, and potential future, families.

Traditional Hive Pack 3v3 League
Spring Session (Mondays, 4 weeks; April 28-May 19)
Summer Session (Mondays, 6 weeks, June 9-July 14)
OPEN TO ALL
Will offer a discount to those who register for both.
As has been the case for four years, we expect to fill multiple divisions, across multiple grade levels, with players both from within our program and from other area programs. This will follow the familiar format from our previous seasons & sessions.

Sunday Night Skills
Evenings, 8-10 nights total (March 30-July 20)
OPEN TO ALL
Will offer package options, as well as single night add-ons.
We will plan to offer multiple sessions each Sunday evening for players of varied levels of development, and create a curriculum that best advances the skills of each player involved.

Summer Team Practice Program
Mondays (March 24-April 21)
Wednesdays (April 30-July 16) [OFF May 28 & July 2]
Potential occasional Fridays added prior to tournament weekends
15-20 total practices
Summer team members have OPTION to register for add-on tournament play
INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS
In lieu of in-person, physical tryouts this year, interested families will complete an online application to receive an invitation to our Summer Team Practice Program. In certain cases, we may invite specific players to small-group, in-person tryouts. Players accepted into the program will be placed into practice groups of similar age/development level.
The cost associated with this program will only cover the practice development opportunities. As we explore availability for tournament play (likely 3-6 times throughout the off-season), roster spots for those weekends will be offered to individual players at Coach Matt's discretion, and will come with an additional charge, per tournament.
Acceptance into the Summer Team Practice Program does not guarantee, nor require, participation in any potential tournament play.
In an effort to clarify the statement above, we expect the potential to accept players into the program who (1) would likely be invited to participate in all/any tournaments we may register for. We also expect to invite players who (2) may be invited to SOME of the tournaments, based on the availability of others. Finally, we expect to invite players who (3) will NOT likely be invited to any tournament play (based on their level of development compared to the expected competition), but we still want to offer the development opportunities that our practices provide.
All families will be initially charged based on this third potential category, and will then add-on charges to families who accept future tournament play invitations. While we may not be able to determine with certainty which of these categories each player will ultimately belong in, we will do our best to be up-front and open about our best guess at the time of any acceptance deadline in order to provide as clear of an outlook as possible, per individual player.
The intent behind this approach is to (A) provide team development opportunities for players who may not be currently well-equipped to succeed in the summer tournament setting, and (B) offer flexibility to players who are well-equipped, but expect weekend availability concerns due to other activity conflicts, travel plans, etc. As our program grows towards the type of program that offers full-time spring/summer competitive tournament team play, we aim to encourage, and also be a landing spot for, our players/families who participate in other activities.

Full-Court 3v3 Showcases
Multiple 2-Night (Thursday/Friday) Sessions (dates TDB)
INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS
In the style of Unrivaled, the new women's full-court 3v3 basketball league, Hive Pack Hoops intends to offer a similar experience to certain age groups throughout the off-season. Like our Team Practice Program, interested families will complete an online application for their player and league directors will work to fill each Showcase's roster from the pool of applicants. Again, in certain cases, we may invite specific players to small-group, in-person tryouts.

Further details and specific registration links will be posted on our website (and shared via social media) later this month, as plans become more finalized.
Don't hesitate to reach out with questions, as those questions and other input may provide clarity to the final direction of our plans.
