With an eye on growing the number of families in which we’re able to provide a positive, passion-enhancing, youth basketball experience, it’s become increasingly important to have a singular program name to be known by. This spring marks an evolution for our growing program as we transition away from the Honeybees and Howlers, and begin being known across all levels, as Hive Pack Hoops.
While exciting, the change is also bittersweet, as our Honeybee and Howler names have been an endearing part of our identity during our first six seasons as a program. Promoting the story of how Hive Pack Hoops came to be, and the importance behind the meaning of our name, will continue to be a priority.

In 2018 we started a 1st Grade girls basketball team, and named it the Honeybees, shaping our approach like the matriarchal species (run by females) with a community considered to be an ideal model for human society.
HIVE represents a location where great things happen, and that feels like home.
In 2021 we added boys teams and named them the Howlers. Not only did the name blend well with the newly-opened high school the majority of our families fed into (Waukee Northwest Wolves), but the social cooperation of wolves perfectly fit with our hopes of how our teams would grow to play together.
PACK represents a group with whom great things happen, and that feels like family.
These two ideas blend together to offer you Hive Pack Hoops, your place and your people.
As we leap into this new era, we also unleash a brand new look that we couldn't be more excited about! Take advantage now and visit THIS LINK to stock up on brand new Hive Pack Hoops apparel. You can order through Sunday, June 2nd!!!
